“Have you asked God yet!”

“You ask and do not receive, because you ask amiss, that you may spend it on your pleasures” James 4:3 NKJV.

In our Christian walk, we make a lot of decisions. Pleading to God for what we want instead of what He would allow. In the context of verse 3; God will not bless us with things that won’t benefit us. Just by asking doesn’t mean He’ll grant an instant gratification answer. Our spirit should be thankful that it will happen in due season.

Does every decision have to be taken to God? I say yes. We can fall short by making a quick decision. Making a rash decision can create negative consequences and regret. Thinking about where to live, what career or training to attend, what business idea to endeavor to take on. All these major decisions need God in the midst of a solution. When you let God in, you release the weight of pressure towards a decision that needs to be made.

When you read this scripture, “If any of you lacks wisdom, let him ask of God, who gives to all liberally and without reproach, and it will be given to him” James 1:15 NKJV.

In the Bible’s context, God doesn’t take the problem away, He wants you to learn from it.

The steps with dealing with a decision that needs to be made.

  1. Go to God and give Him reverence.

  2. Thank God for all that He has done.

  3. Repent for any known/unknown sins.

  4. Submit your request and petitions onto the Lord.

We have access to God; thanks to his son Jesus Christ having died on the cross for our sins. Allows us access, so we can go before God with our plans. In addition, “A man’s heart plans his way, but the Lord directs his steps”. Proverbs 16:9 NKJV.

Also, this is how we can make good decisions according to Tyndale’s book called “The Handbook of Bible Application”, states three basic principles for making sound decision:

1) Get the facts before answering.

2) Be open to new ideas.

3) Make sure you hear both sides of the story before judging.

“Intelligent people are always create new ideas. In fact, they look for them”. Proverbs 18:15 NKJV, the scripture suggests we be open to new ideas.

With God all things are possible according to God’s word. We mustn’t be afraid of the outcome. Giving it to God will help us with the process of receiving the blessing. God opens and closes doors that are not aligned with the path He has for us. A decision or decisions can be made with God’s guidance. Seek his wisdom and you’ll never fail.
